School Leaders Have Free Access to Wistia’s Video Hosting and Soapbox
March 25th, 2020
School leaders are facing a challenge they likely never even pondered: how do you help your teachers deliver instruction to their students without having any face-to-face contact with them?
While your students are settling into at-home classrooms, parents are transitioning to work-from-home life and homeschooling — your teachers are looking for better ways to connect with students outside of the classroom.
Luckily, technology provides plenty of ways for school leaders to stay connected to their teachers during COVID-19. And one of the most powerful ways to connect with anyone is through video.
To make it even easier, Wistia, a video-software company located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is currently offering educators free video hosting or free access to Soapbox, their webcam and screen recorder tool. (At SuperEval we use Soapbox all the time. It’s very easy to use even for the novice.)
Wistia’s founders made the announcement on Twitter on Monday, March 23, stating, “Making business more human is at the heart of all we do at Wistia. That means standing with you & providing help through the COVID-19 crisis. If you’re relying on video to serve the public good & need help with video hosting costs, we want to give you Wistia access for free.”
In addition to video hosting, Wistia also features:
- A variety of embed and share options.
- Customization tools to include chapters, links, annotations, and closed captions.
- Fully-accessible video players to provide an inclusive experience for all people across all devices.
If you’re new to video, Wistia’s Learning Center features an extensive library of resources focused on best practices in creating and sharing videos, with tips that include ways to record the best looking and sounding videos using just your cell phone.
For more information on how you can utilize this free offer, email Wistia at support@wistia.com using the subject line “COVID-19 Response.”
In full disclosure, SuperEval is not affiliated with Wista. We just happen to really like the platform and wanted to share it with you in hopes that it will be helpful for you and then your leadership team.
