SuperEval Attends the NYSCOSS Winter Institute

The SuperEval Team attended the New York State Council of School Superintendents (NYSCOSS) Winter Institute from March 5 – 7 in Albany, NY.
SuperEval was honored to co-sponsor the New York State Superintendent of the Year Dinner honoring Dr. Kevin McGowan of Brighton Central School District. Not only was it a celebration for being named, “New York State Superintendent of the Year”, but also recognition for Dr. McGowan being named, “National Superintendent of the Year” at this year’s AASA Conference in San Antonio two weeks prior. Congratulations to Kevin on a well-deserved honor!
We would also like to congratulate four other award winners recognized during the Winter Institute:

- Meghan McGourty, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, Warwick Valley Central School District

On Monday of the event, SuperEval’s creator and Executive Vice President, Dr. Michael Horning, Jr. presented with Dr. Fenix Arias, Manager of Administration / Chief of Operations, Yonkers City SD. The title of the presentation, “District Goals, Purposeful Leadership, and Evaluation: Shifting the Paradigm,” explored the unique leadership evaluation initiative in Yonkers City SD. Yonkers leadership sought to shift the paradigm from a compliance-based evaluation process with little meaning to creating purposeful leadership while advancing district goals. The session included the successes to-date, lessons learned, as well as the vision for next steps in this leadership initiative.
It was great to connect with our current superintendent partners and meet potential new superintendent partners as we shared the good work districts are conducting with the help of SuperEval. Congratulations to the NYSCOSS Staff for another outstanding Winter Institute!
