SuperEval Announces New AI Features: A Personalized Experience That Returns Time to Education Leaders

August 19th, 2026

Buffalo, NY, August 2026

SuperEval, a national leader in online leadership evaluations, is pleased to announce a set of artificial intelligence features that personalize the platform for each organization and each leader it serves. The features became available to districts in July 2026 and mark a milestone in the platform’s development, extending support to every seat at the evaluation table, including the leader being evaluated, the evaluator, the school board, and the community.

The purpose behind the work is not speed. Educational leaders spend extraordinary hours alone at a desk drafting reflective narratives, consolidating comments, preparing summaries, and assembling the documents that frame a year of leadership. Those hours are among the scarcest resources in a school district, and they are hours taken from the people leadership exists to serve. A leader can remain the construction worker, doing the manual labor of drafting and compiling, or that leader can become the architect, directing the vision while the technology handles the construction.

Personalization begins with context. A district may upload its strategic plan or establish its priorities directly within the platform, and a leader may complete a leadership profile describing their role, responsibilities, and professional goals. From that point forward, the experience is tailored. Goal setting reflects the district’s stated priorities rather than generic prompts, suggested evidence aligns to the responsibilities the leader carries, and drafting support speaks in the language of the evaluation framework the district has adopted. The platform recognizes both the organization and the person leading within it.

“The era of a single, ubiquitous software experience is ending,” said Dr. Michael L. Horning, Jr., Chief Innovation Officer and President of SuperEval. “When the platform understands your organization and who you are within it, the features and the results can be shaped to your needs and to your leadership experience. The deeper question we asked ourselves is how AI can give us back our most precious and limited resource as human beings: our time. This is not just efficiency in using a tool. It is a genuine change in the experience of leading, returning hours to leaders so that those hours are spent with people rather than alone in front of a computer.”

For the leader being evaluated, the platform now supports the reflective work that gives an evaluation its meaning. A Self-Reflection Narrative develops a first-person account of practice from the leader’s own notes and evidence, and an Overall Evaluation Summary brings a full year of competencies into one coherent picture. The leader supplies the substance. The platform organizes it into language that reviewers who are not educators can readily understand.

For the evaluator, the features strengthen both the drafting and the quality of feedback. An Evaluator Feedback Narrative composes third-person feedback from the evaluator’s notes, with evidence integrated as corroboration. A Subjectivity Checker reviews evaluator-written feedback for subjective, inferential, or biased language and offers objective revisions, so that what a leader reads rests on evidence and observable practice rather than impression. Where several board members comment on the same competency, Board Consolidation produces one unified board voice while preserving the substance, balance, and intent of every contribution, with transparent validation that all feedback has been accounted for.

For the board, the platform prepares what governance requires. An Executive Summary synthesizes findings across domains for board presentation. An Evaluator Guide readies a board for a successful year-end evaluation meeting, with best practices for professional feedback, a sample agenda, and sentence starters and guiding questions drawn from that specific evaluation rather than from a generic template. A Public-Facing Summary produces a disclosure-ready narrative for the community.

Care in the design is what makes this possible. Every feature works from the material the district and the leader provide, claims are traceable to the evaluation record, ratings are used exactly as given, and professional judgment remains where it belongs, with the leader and the evaluator. The technology does not invent. It synthesizes. Objectivity standards are written into the architecture rather than added afterward, keeping evaluative labels, inferred motives, absolutist claims, and emotionally charged language out of what the platform produces.

Data privacy is built into the same architecture. District data and confidential user data are not used to train the foundation models behind the AI features. The prompts themselves are written to keep sensitive personal information safe. Also, generated content is intended as a starting draft, with the user modifying it until it is finalized.

That discipline has a history at SuperEval. Anthony Costa served as the company’s Chief Data Privacy and Security Officer before assuming his current role, and the standards he established for safeguarding district and personnel information now govern how AI models are integrated into the platform.

“Integrating AI responsibly is an engineering discipline rather than a feature release,” said Anthony Costa, Chief AI Engineering Officer at SuperEval. “Protecting the data inside an evaluation platform and integrating AI models within it are the same discipline. We evaluate models carefully, we build clear boundaries around what the technology should and should not do, we keep district and user data out of model training, and we test against the realities of the work our users carry out every day. Because these outputs describe the professional performance of real people, the safeguards are part of the design rather than a review at the end. That care serves the leaders using SuperEval today, and it establishes the standard for how we integrate AI models across our other platforms and initiatives.”

This release reflects the work of the SuperEval engineering and product team, whose members built these capabilities alongside the superintendents, administrators, and board members who described what would genuinely help them. That collaboration is why the features address real needs rather than imagined ones.

SuperEval has never regarded compliance as the purpose of evaluation. The platform grew from established research on leadership evaluation and rests on the conviction that evaluation should develop leaders, connect their daily work to the priorities of their organizations, and give them agency in the process. The purpose reaches further still: to improve the life prospects of all children by empowering and developing the leaders who serve them. Every hour returned to a principal or a superintendent becomes an hour available to a teacher, a family, or a student, and that is the achievement worth celebrating in this release.

Superintendents, district leaders, and association colleagues who would like to see the personalized experience in their own context are welcome to schedule a demonstration with our team.
