Notes from the NYSCOSS Fall Leadership Summit
October 21st, 2021
Members of the SuperEval team attended the New York Council of School Superintendents (NYSCOSS) 2021 Fall Leadership Summit: The Ride of a Lifetime. SuperEval was a sponsor during the conference which took place during the last week of September in Saratoga Springs, NY.
On Sunday morning, Dr. Horning led a session virtually on The Superintendent Evaluation where he shared stories, challenges, and trends in the superintendent evaluation. The session also covered implementing the seven standards of excellence in a superintendent’s evaluation with the Board of Education. If you missed the presentations and would like more information, please contact Dr. Horning Jr. at mhorning@supereval.com.
On Monday morning, Superintendent Anibal Soler, Jr., formerly of Batavia City Schools, now at Schenectady City Schools, and Dr. Kevin McGowan of Brighton CSD, led a session aligned to the conference strand: Leveraging the Lessons Learned: Looking Back on This Past Year. The presentation, Attaining Culture of Leadership Through Relationships, Rigor, and Relevance, detailed the leadership development initiative this past year in Batavia City Schools. The SuperEval team, and some partners, co-created this unique initiative while using the SuperEval platform to facilitate this process.
Bob Hartz said, “Over the weekend, we were pleased to meet with several current partners and potential partners at our booth. It was wonderful to be back meeting people face-to-face! Even with our masks on, there’s nothing like connecting in person!”
Our team would like to send a congratulations to this year’s Council Award Winners at the 2021 Fall Conference including:
