A New Remote Learning Resource for Teachers
July 23rd, 2020
For the past 40 years, our PLS Classes partner, Steve Barkley has served as an education consultant to school districts, teacher organizations, state departments of education, and colleges and universities nationally and internationally, facilitating the changes necessary for them to reach students and successfully prepare them for the future.
In response to COVID-19 school closures, Steve expanded his popular weekly podcast Steve Barkley Ponders Out Loud to include a parent focused podcast. As a parent and grandparent, Steve recognized the opportunity to help other guardians support their children’s learning at home. Now, we are pleased to announce that Steve has taken his wealth of experience to deliver a teacher focused podcast. This addition to his regular podcasts will deliver timely and relevant content and ideas to help your teachers succeed in the classroom.
All of Steve’s podcasts are FREE and can be accessed on his website.
Here is a quick glimpse of his first three teacher-focused podcasts.
Students Cause Student Achievement
It’s “what students do” that generates the learning outcomes and standards mastery that we as teachers set out to accomplish. In this episode, Steve explores how identifying the student learning production behaviors that generate the desired learning outcomes help to focus a teacher or PLC’s approach to planning instruction.
Teachers Encouraging Parent/Student Learning Activities
Steve is joined by Arin Casavant, a science teacher at Bismark Public Schools in North Dakota, to explore how teachers can create parent support in order to maximize student learning during school closures.
Working with Students’ Pictures of Success
Student effort is critical to reaching maximum levels of learning success. Knowing and in some cases building pictures of future success is a key to motivating effort. Steve shares many examples of successful strategies that teachers have implemented.
Steve Barkley Ponders Out Loud also has podcast content for instructional coaches and school administrators. Please share this resource with your district leadership team.
